Welcome to All Roads lead from Home!

On this blog you can find travel ideas as well as inspiration and assistance, if you wish, to create a personalized itinerary for your next destination.
I like sharing the emotions I feel when exploring a destination and, if useful to others, sharing some opinions and advices about it.
I think of myself as an “average” traveller, no bottomless budgets and unlimited free time for my escapes: I simply love dedicating my free time to this passion, therefore in this blog you will mostly find tales and suggestions for trips that I consider pretty much within everyone’s reach.

to read my latest articles, discover some of the destinations I have explored or re-discover them with me to relive the emotions of the trip. You can group the articles by Destinations with the menu on top of the page or Filter by the recurring tags in the related sidebar list (in this case according to the article topic, regardless of the geographical location).

My columns

Traditions & Folklore

“Tradition is the means by which the vitality of the past enriches the life of the present” – T. S. Eliot

My curiosity for everything that is not strictly familiar couldn’t help but being matched by my interest in getting to know rooted customs, intriguing traditions and local legends of some of my destinations: It’s another topic I’ve always been fascinated by and that I think contributes to a more complete travel experience, as it adds a sort of “insider” knowledge of a place.

Recipes from the world

“Food is our common ground, a universal experience” – James Beard

Food is another fundamental part of my life as well as my travel experiences: I like tasting the local specialties of my destinations and, whenever possible, also make an attempt at them at home, to try and relive the atmosphere of a journey and let the flavors evoke beautiful memories. In this section, besides the traditional recipe, I also tell the story and some anecdotes about the dishes I’d like to recreate.

Travel reads

“There is no frigate like a book to take us lands away”  – Emily Dickinson

In this section you will find books that inspire the exploration of certain destinations, but I will also share reading ideas for others that might not be strictly linked with the travel theme, yet I still found particularly enjoyable during a certain trip and why.

Itineraries from the big and small screen

“Roads? Where we’re going, we don’t need roads!” – Back to the Future

I think the title says it all: walking tours throughout cities as well as proper on the road itineraries across regions and countries, in search of those really existing locations I fell in love with thanks to movies and TV series.

Something different

“If you want something you’ve never had, you must be willing to do something you’ve never done” – Thomas Jefferson

I don’t presume to write about totally unknown places and itineraries, but simply those I have heard and read a little less about online for several reasons: areas which are less beaten by mass tourism, little known attractions as well as places which might be out of the way or less easily accessible.
